Thursday, May 28, 2009 Bryan Fischer, Executive Director FEDERAL LAWSUIT AGAINST PROP 8 HAS HOMOSEXUALS WORRIED To the consternation of homosexual activists, a lawsuit against California’s Prop 8 has been filed in federal court, with plans to run appeals all the way to the Supreme Court. Gay activists are opposed to the strategy for fear that plaintiffs will lose at the Supreme Court, thus  setting back the cause of special rights for homosexuals, lesbians, and transgendered folk for years.The lawyers who have filed the suit trotted out the tired argument that bans against same-sex marriage are the same as bans against mixed-race marriages. This is a ridiculous charge, for the simple reason that mixed-race marriages do not alter the institution of marriage itself. A mixed-race marriage is still the union of one man and one woman. Same-sex marriage, on the other hand, fundamentally alters the definition of society’s most basic and foundational institution, and ignores the profound truths that marriage is about a morally acceptable relationship for the expression of sexuality and about the optimum environment for conceiving and raising children. Newsmax.com - Gay Groups Shy Away From Federal Marriage Suit FIRST AMENDMENT TRASHED: PENALIZED FOR HOSTING HOME BIBLE STUDY A San Diego couple has been threatened with escalating fines if they continue to hold a Bible study in their own home. Their Thursday night study is attended by about 15 people, enough to prompt a San Diego County official to interrogate them over Easter weekend. The official questioned them as follows: “Do you have a regular weekly meeting in your home? Do you  sing? Do you say ‘amen?’ Do you say, ‘Praise the Lord?’” When told that the answer to all four questions was “Yes,” they were instructed to cease and desist holding “religious assemblies” until they received a Major Use Permit from the county. If they don’t play ball, the official warned, they will face a rapidly increasing set of fines, starting at $100 and running up to $1,000, at which point they were told, “[T]hen it will get ugly.” Christianity was official illegal during much of the first three centuries of its existence, and pagan Rome made it impossible for Christians to build church buildings. The one place where Christians could freely meet, even under pagan rule, was in private homes. Homes were the church buildings of the fledgling church. In effect, then, San Diego County, by threatening draconian punishments for this couple and their friends for using their home in this time-honored way, are acting in more tyrannical ways even than pagan rulers whose hostility to Christians didn’t even extend this far. This incident reminds me of Vietnam, where the underground church must meet in secret since the government only allows two denominations to meet openly. These permitted worship services are infiltrated by government watchdogs to make sure believers don’t exercise any meaningful religious freedom. Said the couple’s attorney, “If people can’t practice their religious beliefs in the privacy of their own homes with a few of their friends, that’s an egregious First Amendment violation.” Even in an age of runaway judicial activism, it’s hard to imagine the courts will not slap San Diego County upside the head on this one. We currently employ 50+ people and before the economic slowdown we employed over 70 local people. We are active in the community and the local chamber of commerce. We deal with several dozen local vendors on a day to day basis and many more during a month. All depend on our business for part of their livelihood. We are financially strong with great respect in the market place and community. We have strong local presence and stability. I work every day the store is open, nine to ten hours a day. I know most of our customers and all our employees. Sunshine Dodge is my life. On Thursday, May 14, 2009 I was notified that my Dodge franchise, that we purchased, will be taken away from my family on June 9, 2009 without compensation and given to another dealer at no cost to them. My new vehicle inventory consists of 125 vehicles with a financed balance of 3 million dollars. This inventory becomes impossible to sell with no factory incentives beyond June 9, 2009. Without the Dodge franchise we can no longer sell a new Dodge as "new," nor will we be able to do any warranty service work. Additionally, my Dodge parts inventory, (approximately $300,000.) is virtually worthless without the ability to perform warranty service. There is no offer from Chrysler to buy back the vehicles or parts inventory. Our facility was recently totally renovated at Chrysler's insistence, incurring a multi-million dollar debt in the form of a mortgage at Sun Trust Bank. HOW IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CAN THIS HAPPEN? THIS IS A PRIVATE BUSINESS NOT A GOVERNMENT ENTITY This is beyond imagination! My business is being stolen from me through NO FAULT OF OUR OWN. We did NOTHING wrong. This atrocity will most likely force my family into bankruptcy. This will also cause our 50+ employees to be unemployed. How will they provide for their families? But honoring America’s war heroes seems to matter little to the ACLU, as it marches forward in its fevered crusade to wipe every vestige of the acknowledgment of God from the public arena. If the plaintiff was so offended by this lone cross (now encased in plywood and shielded from the eyes of impressionable young children) that he felt compelled to go to federal court, he will go into anaphylactic shock if he visits Arlington National Cemetery. Perhaps for his own health he should be warned. (

In some cases, taxpayer dollars are used to bus immigrants to work centers where they wind up in front of the line, sometimes camping out 24 hours before applications are received, ahead of local American workers. Legalizing illegal aliens, as both President Obama and the GOP’s candidate, John McCain, have pledged to do, will only make a bad situation worse. The recession has been hard on immigrants as well, who have come to America in hope and yet find a shrinking economy leaves them with few options. (
