BSU PLANS: BATHROOMS FOR THE TRANSGENDERED

BSU intends to double the size of the Student Union Building soon, and according to student senator Jonathan Sawmiller, the plans presented to the student senate this spring include transgendered bathrooms.

Yes, BSU is planning to use public dollars to build restrooms reserved for the exclusive use of students with utterly confused sexual identities.

Transgendered individuals believe that their gender identity does not correspond to their biological identity. That is, an individual who genetically is a male comes to believe that in fact he is a female trapped in a male body. And an individual who genetically is a female comes to believe that she in fact is a male trapped in a female body.

The Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for millennia that genders come in just two varieties – male and female. This is clear from the first page of Genesis, which plainly declares, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Medical science confirms this, of course, as individuals are either male or female - there is no third, fourth, or fifth alternative - in their very DNA and in every single cell of their bodies.

Make no mistake – if this project goes forward, public dollars will be used for BSU’s promotion of sexual abnormality. Financing is likely to include a combination of student fees and bonds issued by the university. Courts have consistently ruled that student fees are in fact public dollars, since they are mandatory, and, in BSU’s case as a public institution, represent what amounts to a tax imposed by a government entity.

And bonds issued by the university or by the state, of course, would be paid off using taxpayer dollars.

If BSU is able to get away with this, it will represent an enormous step forward for the homosexual agenda. The obvious message to the public will be that transgenderism is the moral and legal equivalent of heterosexuality.

And this is a terrible message to send to the sexually confused – it legitimizes their twisted thinking about themselves and will make it much less likely that they will seek help for this serious disorder.

The bottom line is that if public dollars are going to be spent on the transgendered, they ought to be spent making therapy accessible to them so they can begin a journey back to sexual normalcy.

Rest assured that the last chapter in this sorry saga has yet to be written, and the IVA will work to see this plan to legitimize sexual confusion does not go unchallenged. This plan cannot and must not be allowed to stand. We will have more information for you as things develop.

Ø      As an illustration of what can and will happen if the effort to normalize gender confusion is not stopped in its tracks, a high school in my hometown of Fresno, California last week allowed a female student to run for prom king on the grounds that she really is a male trapped in a female body. The fact that she, as a female, was allowed to run for a male-specific honor is proof itself of just how much meek accommodation our culture has made to the extreme demands by the far left for society’s endorsement of aberrant lifestyles. The newspaper article correctly acknowledges along the way that sex is something that is “assigned at birth.” (FresnoBee.com: Local: Girl who would be a prom king loses)

Ø      Although its passage is far from likely, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer plans to introduce legislation that would make his state the second in the union – after Massachusetts – to legalize homosexual marriage. (Spitzer Plans to Introduce Gay Marriage Bill - New York Times)

Ø      Using the Lincoln-Douglas debates over slavery as a backdrop, Dinesh D’Souza illustrates how the effort of presidential candidates to turn abortion into a state’s rights issue is just a dodge. Douglas took the pro-choice position on slavery, and wanted to let states decide for themselves whether to be slave or free, although, of course, he was “personally opposed” to the practice.  But Lincoln correctly pointed out that it cannot make sense under any concept of self-determination and natural rights to allow one human being to enslave another. As Lincoln said, if Negroes are like hogs, then the pro-choice position is right. But if they are human beings, it is grotesquely evil to treat them like hogs, and buy and sell them like so much merchandise. And so with babies in the womb. If they are just protoplasm, there is no reason not to tear them apart in the wombs of their mothers. But if they are in fact babies, then abortion is a grotesque moral evil, if anything a worse moral evil than slavery. (Townhall.com::Speaking as a Former Fetus...::By Dinesh D'Souza)

Ø      In the movie “Amazing Grace,” William Wilberforce, in his crusade to end the slave trade in the British Empire, at one point pulls a boat of the British elite alongside a docked slave ship so they could catch a whiff of the literal stench of slavery. And so Justice Kennedy, in an amazing excerpt from his majority opinion upholding a ban on partial birth abortions, includes the testimony of a nurse who assisted in one such procedure: “The baby’s little fingers were clasping and unclasping, and his little feet were kicking. Then the doctor stuck the scissors in the back of his head, and the baby’s arms jerked out … The doctor opened up the scissors, stuck a high powered suction tube into the opening, and sucked the baby’s brains out … Now the baby went completely limp. He threw the baby in a pan, along with the placenta, and the instruments he had just used.” Every leading Republican candidate for president – Giuliani, McCain, and Romney – applauded Kennedy’s ruling. And yet every leading Democratic contender – Clinton, Obama, Edwards – condemned it, putting themselves on record that such a procedure ought to be practiced and protected in America. Ø      Tour guides at Jamestown are at last going to be allowed to tell the truth about the origins of this colony, which is that the first goal of the settlement of Jamestown was the propagation of the Christian gospel. (Another data point on whether this nation was founded as a Christian nation.) Due to strenuous protests from students of American history, tour guides now are actually being instructed to say that, “The first motivation mentioned in the 1606 charter is to spread the Christian religion.” The memo to tour guides quotes from the statement made by King James to the investors in the Virginia Company, which expresses the hope that the venture “may, by the providence of Almighty God, hereafter tend to the glory of His Divine Majesty to such people as yet live in darkness and miserable ignorance of the true knowledge and worship of God.” (WorldNetDaily: Nation's 1st goal? Spread the Gospel)

Ø      Last Wednesday was the “National Day of Silence,” a day for homosexual activists on high school campuses all across America to promote the normalization of homosexual behavior. Although pro-homosexual students were allowed to express virtually any message they wished, one high school student in Michigan was suspended because he wore a t-shirt with the message “I’m straight” as a form of protest. When told to take his shirt off, he asked, “Why do the rest of the kids in the class get to wear theirs and I can’t wear something about what I believe?” Rather than answer his question, he was told again to take off the shirt, and that if he did not, he would be kicked of out class. He replied, “Well, then, you’ll have to kick me out,” which they immediately proceeded to do. This further illustrates the truth that the homosexual agenda represents the greatest threat to freedom of speech in our current culture. Ø      Normalization of homosexuality should be opposed for health reasons alone. Further confirmation comes from San Francisco, where the rates of anal cancer are so high among homosexuals (anal cancer has increased 37 percent in the U.S. in the last decade, when the total number of cancer cases increased by only one percent) that doctors there are recommending that sexually active gays get regular anal pap smears. Because 90% of homosexuals engage in anal-receptive sex, they are disproportionately prone to this form of cancer. Anal cancer is caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV), the leading cause of cervical cancer among women. This health crisis has led to increasing requests from gay men for the anti-HPV vaccine Gardasil. (SAN FRANCISCO / Doctors want Pap test for gay men)

Ø      San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom has pledged to make his city a sanctuary city for illegal aliens, and will do everything in his power to prevent federal authorities from executing arrest warrants for immigrants who have committed crimes, or ignored final deportation orders. Meanwhile, another American citizen – a 33-year-old pipe fitter and father of five from Richmond, Calif. – is dead as a result of an automobile accident caused by an illegal immigrant who was driving while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The illegal, who was found with two pounds of methamphetamine in his vehicle and more at home, had been arrested or convicted no less than nine times since 2003 and yet was still in the country. Despite his repeated arrests, no one from any of the law enforcement agencies or courts involved with this individual had ever contacted immigration authorities. Richmond is so eager to avoid worrying illegals that officials have terminated daylight traffic checkpoints aimed at stopping street crime because illegals complained they were being unfairly targeted. The suspect is now on immigration hold, but observers must want to know why it took the death of an innocent American to make that happen. Ø      Well, just in time to save the planet, music star Sheryl Crow has come up with a solution to global warming. I will allow her to speak for own eloquent self: “I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don’t want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions were 2 to 3 could be required.” (Saving the Earth: The Biodiesel Bus Blog - washingtonpost.com)

Ø      Virginia Tech quote of the day, from perhaps the greatest Virginian of them all, and an icon for our friends on the left: "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one." ~ Thomas Jefferson, Quoting Cesare Beccari's "On Crimes and Punishment"
