IVA IN THE NEWS: LIFESITE NEWS STORY ON IDAHO RULING

Excerpt from a story appearing on LifeSite News:

Judge Forces Idaho to Fund Estrogen Treatment for Male Inmate Who Thinks He Is A Woman

---

Bryan Fischer, the executive director of the Idaho Values Alliance, agreed with Staver, saying, "Whether transgenderism ought to be normalized, and whether taxpayer dollars should be spent in futile attempts to turn males into females, are decisions that should be made by Idaho's lawmakers, no by unelected and unaccountable judges."

IVA IN THE NEWS: STATESMAN EXCERPTS COMMENT ON CLOSED PRIMARY ISSUE

Yesterday’s editorial page of the Idaho Statesman included s brief citation from one of last week’s Daily Updates:

A Republican Purge

Still confused about why some Republicans are so lathered up over closing their party's primary?

Consider this telling item from the Idaho Values Alliance's blog last week.

A closed primary will flush out those so-called "Republicans in Name Only," or RINOs — Republicans that don't meet a narrow definition of purity, as spelled out by alliance executive director Bryan Fischer.

"The practical effect of the implementation of this rule is that it will be easier for pro-family candidates to survive GOP primaries, and harder for Republicans-in-name-only to get into office," Fischer says.

"Thus, in many ways this battle is of great significance for the future of Idaho politics. Closed Republican primaries are clearly in the best interest of those who want Idaho to continue to be a state that honors conservative, family-friendly social values. Both Democrats and Republican party elites understand what is at stake here, which is why they are fighting so hard against this move.

"The battle over closed primaries is, in fact, a battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party in Idaho."

Make no mistake. This is a purge. Folks like Fischer have given up being subtle about it.

TRANSGENDERISM: THE NEW HOMOSEXUALITY

As the state of Idaho grapples with federal magistrate Mikel Williams’ activist ruling, which normalizes transgenderism and forces Idaho’s taxpayers to subsidize it, it’s worthy of note that transgender activists are about where homosexual activists were just twenty years ago.

The front lines of the culture war now include what is going to be a fierce battle over what would have been unthinkable two decades ago: whether our society should embrace transgenderism as a normal alternative to heterosexuality.

That’s why what is happening right now in the Idaho prison system is of significance far beyond what is done or not done for a particular inmate. This is really a battle over whether the state is going to endorse and subsidize this aberrant form of sexuality and whether a federal judge will be allowed to in effect normalize it by judicial fiat.

The D.C. area gay newspaper, the Washington Blade, reports that almost twice as many Fortune 500 companies in the Washington area are now offering special workplace protections for transgender employees as was the case just a year ago.

The newspaper says that nationwide, while just one company granted special rights to transgenders in 2000, and just eight did in 2003, now a full one quarter of Fortune 500 companies – 125 in all - now do so.

Said the founder of the Human Rights Campaign, “It took the gay civil rights movement nearly two decades to see the growth that the transgender community has seen in the last five years.”

More than half – 267 – of Fortune 500 companies offer benefits to same-sex partners, and nearly 90 percent give special workplace protections that are based on sexual orientation, all of which endangers the free speech rights of advocates of the Judeo-Christian tradition in those environments.

Included in the list of transgender-friendly companies is Marriott International, which recently received unwelcome scrutiny for the revelation that its hotels have harvested millions of dollars in profits from in-room pornographic movies.

Capitol One and Sprint Nextel were also singled out and commended for promoting transgenderism.

The Blade says that the Human Rights Campaign tracks Fortune 500 companies in particular “because they are widely seen as the trendsetters for other companies.”

In encouraging news on the corporate front, the newspaper reports that Exxon Mobile and Perot Systems have changed their benefits policies to rescind eligibility for domestic partners, and now score just 14 (out of 100) on the HRC’s Corporate Equality Index.

Ø      A member of the Republican National Committee, which just concluded its four-day annual summit meeting, is concerned that the party is moving away from its conservative stands on social and religious issues in a misguided attempt to win more seats in 2008. But as this member points out, the GOP simply cannot win in 2008 without the enthusiastic support of evangelicals and pro-life Catholics. Some members of the RNC, correctly in my view, expressed concern that a Giuliani nomination would “trigger a fight within in the GOP” that would “cripple” the party. (Conservatives: GOP straying on social issues -- The Washington Times)

Ø      Encouragingly, Fox News reports that “young conservative activists today are a scrappier and more demanding generation,” which means that GOP politicians must earn their allegiance rather than being able to assume it. Attendees at last week’s national student conference of the Young America’s Foundation, which stands unapologetically for limited government and family-friendly values, took the GOP to task for deviating from conservative principles while in charge of Congress. The heroes of young conservatives now are no longer politicians but columnists and talk show hosts who fearlessly advocate for time-honored principles of conservatism. Republican leaders on Capitol Hill, they observe, don’t display the same kind of resolve. One thing that has struck me in the presidential campaign is the passion that I see in twenty-and-thirty-somethings for the candidacy of Ron Paul. He stirs passion, I believe, because when he talks about limited government, fiscal responsibility, protecting personal freedoms and pro-life values, listeners have no doubt that he means it. (FOXNews.com - Young Conservatives Dump Republican Politicians For Columnists, Talk Show Stars)

Ø      We’ve often made the point that once society endorses any sexual coupling beyond the union of one man and one woman in marriage, there is no logical place to stop. (If you can have a partner of the same sex, why not two or three of the opposite sex?) Same-sex marriage is simply the first domino. Proof now can be seen in Canada, where laws against polygamy are now in danger of being declared unconstitutional. A polygamist colony in Bountiful has been importing girls as young as 13 as wives for older men, and adolescent boys are actually removed from the community to ensure less competition for the older men. Prosecutors are hesitant to initiate charges against polygamists, for fear that courts will wind up overturning the polygamy laws altogether. (British Columbia to Seek Supreme Court Opinion on Whether Polygamy is Constitutional)

Ø      A public school that may wind up being not much more than a Muslim madrassa is scheduled to open next month in Brooklyn, New York. It will be devoted to teaching Arab language and culture (for culture, read “Islam”). The school’s incoming principal has said that U.S. foreign policy is “racist,” that “in the ‘war against terror’ people of color are the target,” and that the U.S. “triggered” terrorism, essentially by taking sides with Israel in the Middle East. Three imams are on the advisory board for the school. Said a concerned observer, “We see a religious advisory board and a principal with a track record in radical Islam.” School officials have refused to publish curricula or a list of textbooks, and have refused to talk about whether history will be taught with a pro-Islamist slant.  (NYC Officials Accused of Withholding Information on Arab School -- 08/06/2007)

Ø      In something that would be impossible to believe if it were not true, a subsidiary of the German government’s Ministry for Family Affairs actually encourages parents to sexually massage their children as young as one to three years of age. Said one appalling booklet, “Fathers do not devote enough attention to the clitoris and vagina of their daughters. Their caresses too seldom pertain to these regions, while this is the only way the girls can develop a sense of pride in their sex.” The booklet is required reading in nine German regions, and is used to train nursery, kindergarten, and elementary school teachers. Millions of the booklets are sent out every year. As one observer noted, this is nothing more than “state-encouraged incest,” but it is an inevitable outcome of the rejection of Judeo-Christian morality. If there are no transcendent spiritual or moral truths, and no God to which man is accountable, then man becomes just a materialistic creature who exists for nothing more than pleasure and power. A popular magazine in Germany publishes nude photos of teens in sexual positions, which would be illegal child pornography in most other countries. In response to public pressure, the booklet has evidently been removed from the government agency’s website. (German Government Publication Promotes Incestuous Pedophilia as Healthy Sex Ed)
